Safety Standards

Masterbulk has adopted rigorous safety standards, seeing this as a basic requirement to meet our clients’ needs.

We achieved industry best practice safety standards in 2013, with our Lost Time Incident Frequency (LTIF) reaching a new low of 1.04, below INTERTANKO’s industry benchmark of 1.14. These LTIF rates have maintained a steady decline over the last three years, and an ongoing programme is in place to maintain and further improve this level of performance.

Rightship is the world’s leading third-party ship vetting agency with online real-time data on over 70,000 vessels. Masterbulk subscribe to the Rightship Ship Vetting Information System in order to monitor the performance of our own vessels and to benchmark that performance against that of our major competitors.

As of 1 July 2015, Masterbulk’s RightShip (http://site.rightship.com/) fleet average score reached a new high of 4.95 (out of a possible 5.00), with 80% of vessels rated 5 Star, and 20% rated 4 Star.

At the same time Masterbulk has continued to maintain a record of zero fatalities since it started business in 1996.
